Shifting priorities

Bugger.

Things have become way stressful at work. Been shifted to a new team and things have been going to shit. Basically they’re doing a restructure in the middle of our peak season, and so far my old team (which worked together really well) has been split up among three other teams, and I’m now stuck in a team from what was previously a different business line. Sure, we all do the same kinds of work, ie, we’re all on the phones, but we’re dealing with entirely different sets of knowledge. Not to mention that despite this supposedly being some sort of amalgamation of different business lines into one, I’m still supposed to do everything the old way, despite most of the people in my new team doing something different, because they’re still doing it their old way. Ahh it shits me and stresses me out.

I’d forgotten, while I was in my old team, that this jobs shits me. Mainly because I really enjoyed the people I was working with. I should have realised this wasn’t going to last, and rather than just waiting for thing to change of their own accord, I should have been using the low stress period to actually get a different job.

Which means, now, a change of priorities. I’m dropping on the the subjects I’ve enrolled in at uni, as work is sapping my motivation to study now that things aren’t going well, and it’s the thing I can most afford to drop. Also, I’m actively looking for new work again, which means that my plans for travel may have to be delayed. hmm… gonna have to think about how to work it all in. If I stay, I’ll be depressed but I can travel next year as I’ll have built up enough leave. If I get a new job I wont have the leave, so I can’t take the time off, but I will get paid out my leave from my current job, which equals a few thousand dollars, which always comes in handy. what to do, what to do?
