To car or not to car?

For the past few weeks I’ve been tossing up whether to buy a car or not. I keep changing my mind back and forth between the two options, and think I’m going to for-go the car buying opportunity for the time being. Reasons for this include; the excellent job interview I had on wednesday, which if successful would mean a pay cut but working in the city and much less commuting; the cost of loan repayments plus the recurring costs of insurance, rego, maintainence and petrol; lack of place to park; and the realistic expectation that while a car would be useful, I wouldn’t use it terribly often, and might start using it for trips that I would normally walk at the moment.

Of course, If I don’t get this job, many of the reasons to not get a car would need to be re-evaluated, and I would probably lean more towards getting one. hmm…
