I had fun, did you?

So I’m back from 5 days in brisbane doing beary things with beary men. A long needed and long overdue holiday, free of concerns apart from what to wear and how much can I drink before running out of money. It’s a relief to be back in Sydney, partly because I heart Sydney muchly, and part because Brisbane was non-stop since arriving last wednesday. I’m coming to heart Brisbane more and more each time I visit. It’s hard to escape that it’s a little small, and as a city boys who loves big bright cities, that’s difficult to deal with. But it’s growing, rapidly, and I can see the changes each time I go. So it was nice to go, but nice to leave also.

Still, the bears, and sporties, and walking to the city and back to spring hill each day, and mysterious foot injuries, and beer, and vodka, and snogs, and bears, and beer, and beer, and beer.

It all started slowly, with Rego night for Northern Exposure (bear festival in brisbane, google it yourself), but talk about free gift with purchase! Rego pack came in a backpack, with a beachtowel, bottle opener, cock ring, and fridge magnet. It was awesome. The cruise on the river the next night was boring but the food was excellent. Then the big party the next night, with was great, and I danced for hours, and sure the music wasn’t the best, but it was easily the equal of anything in the RHI at Mardi Gras. And I danced and I danced and I danced. With a foot injury. Sunday was pool party, with was nice, followed by free food, with was great, and then the open bar at the recovery/farewell party. Open bar!!! Obviously, it lead to lots of drunken antics, and I don’t feel the least bit shameful.

I’m not one for the big bear events generally, but in all honesty Northern Exposure shat all over the Bear Essentials (sydney bear festival) I went to the other year. I’m not in a hurry to go back, what with Bear Essentials coming up at the end of Summer, and Southern HiBearnation (melbourne bear festival) next winter, and the fact I’m seriously considering going to both of these really shows how much I enjoyed it all I reckon.

Apart from all the Northern Exposure stuff going on, I also went to Dreamworld twice (awesome water park!), as well as going shopping in the city numerous times (bought to awesome shirts and some pants I’m now in love with), and getting along to Southbank (expensive and bad turkish food, give me Enmore Rd any day), and the Queensland Art Gallery, and the Gallery of Modern Art (big bright colouful german art!). Oh, and I acquired a mysterious foot injury the second day I was there, which left me hobbling around the place thinking I’d have to go to the hospital to have my foot x-rayed. Thankfully it was all to do with the bad shoes I’d been wearing, and the problem was helped with the purchase of really expensive inner soles at the recommendation of the chemist. Really uncomfortable inner soles, but at least it stopped  the shooting pains in my foot.

And here’s some pictures

This is Story Bridge, as seen from the river cruise.

River art! I heart public art!

Big bright coulourful german art at the GoMA

This was a huge installation, about four stories high. I loved it.

Cows at the GoMA! made from cans of corned beef :-)

Big Brother Studio at Dreamworld. (much smaller in real life)

Inside the outside of the big brother house. They were just starting to tear it all down in preparation for the next series. Again, much smaller in real life.

Inside the Big brother house. Have you guessed by now I like big brother?
